Patt Daugherty Why is this type of theft not criminal?

We contracted Liquid Dreams Custom Pools on July 25th to build us a pool with a free outdoor kitchen. We met with Patt, agreed on a design, and contracted him to build us our first family pool. Patt gave us the same old story he gives everyone about how he screwed up, he is a changed man. He is now a Christ follower and has seen the errors of his past drug habits, and other illegal activities.

I know what most people think, then why did you use this idiot? Well, we do believe in second chances, unfortunately we did not know this was his 3rd or 4th chance. Plus we did call the impressive list of people that he did build pools for, including some friends of ours. Everyone said they were happy, which I expected to some degree. Plus it seems like most pool builders have complaints against them.

So we paid our first installment, things went pretty well the first two weeks. They did however destroy every part of our front yard, and in most cases it seemed overly excessive. Very little lack of care was taken. Patt told us he would be with us every step of the way. I did not hear from him the 1st two weeks of the project despite constantly calling him and texted to find out what was next. Not until a second check was needed that I heard back from him. We paid and moved to phase two. He started 2 weeks later than he stated.

Now we were pushing his 30 day guarantee to be finished. After phase 2 was finished, 3 weeks behind schedule, we did not hear from Patt for a few weeks. He finally contacted me back, he was short on money I guess, and asked us to pay for phase three. The stage left was to complete the plumbing, electrical and the equipment. Just before plastering. Patt rec his $15k from us, and then disappeared. He would not answer calls, texts, or emails. Finally I got a hold of him because I called from a back up number. He answered to his own surprise that I was wondering where my money was and why he was ignoring me.

Listen to me with this next part, it is important. It is the basic principal of a con artist. This is what Patt is, a con artist. He tried to blame me for the reason he was not finishing. Saying that I was calling him too much and not letting him get the stuff done that he needed to get done. THis supposed born again told me to go f - myself because he was doing everything that he could do. It was everyone else's fault he was behind. Not his! He blamed his assistant, (who i later found out did not get paid for 2 months) his contractors,

(all of which have liens and suits against him for lack of payment) his lawyer, who told him to slow down and not take so many jobs, he blamed me, for not paying him enough because he was giving me a good deal and I just should be happy about that. This guy blamed everyone except himself!!! Typical abuser mentality. I guess after he realized I was going to sue him he changed his tune and told me he was going to do the right thing and he would finish our pool.

2 months go by, and I hear nothing from him. Except for a random meeting at a Jiffy Lube. I thought he would crap himself when he saw me. He looked me right in the eyes and told me he would call me that following Monday to give me his newest and grandest schedule of finishing my pool. Two weeks later I finally tracked him down and told him I was suing him. He then had a guy come out and spray and finish our deck. Come to find out 1 month later that Patt's check bounced with him and he was turning Patt over to the authorities for writing hot checks. When I asked Patt about that he told me that he would get that straightened out immediately. As of the day I am writing this, Patt owes that company over $3500 in hot checks. How is this guy not in jail.

One last note, when I told Patt for the last time I was suing him and my lawyer sent him a letter, he had the nerve to tell me that he would talk to my lawyer directly to work out a way and a deal on how we could finish the pool ourselves with his help. He had the nerve to ask me to pay him for a consulting fee. Is this guy for real? Come to find out that this joker fell of the wagon once again and has somehow found God for a second time! Well hallelujah. I am a Christian and I hate when these type of people pretend that if they say it enough then it's true. This guy is a criminal. He is a crook. He will steal from you. He is a con artist and unfortunately we will never get our $30,000 back.

We have hired a new pool builder to finish our pool. I continue to see ads in the local business pages for this guy. Not sure how he can afford it. He did buy a new BMW as well. Don't know what else to tell any of you about this crook, other than please do not listen to a word he says unless it is to tell you that he will steal from you and leave you worse off than before. He should be in jail. No reason this guy should be walking the streets lying to other people the way he does.
