The Mattress Professioinals bait and switch sales tactics

We went to Slappy's and walked into the showroom looking for a bed for our teenage son for Christmas. We were shown a memory foam mattress on an adjustable base. We laid down on the bed and the salesmen demonstrated all of the features. The base adjusted both the head and foot of the bed and had a massage feature. We said that we were interested in that bed and the salesman told us the price included the base and they would throw in free delivery if we decided to purchase that day (11/25). We did and we sat down to complete the sale. We even discussed the multiple features on the base.

The bed was delivered a month later (12/23). As soon as the delivery guys left, we realized that the base they delivered was a head only adjustable frame. I immediately called the store and was told there was nothing they could do, but we should call customer service. I asked to speak to a manager and I was told none were in the store. A "regional manager" did return my call but told me the promotion they were running at the time we purchased the bed was for the adjustable head frame only.

We explained to her that what we were "sold" was the base with all the features and the salesperson had never indicated that there was a promotion or the price they gave us was for a head adjustable only base. She too said there was nothing she could do and that we were stuck with that one because once it was in our house, it couldn't be returned. I spent 35 minutes on the phone with customer service and was told they weren't in the showroom, so they don't know what transpired, so there was nothing they could do, we needed to speak to the salesperson in the store.

This was a total bait and switch sales tactic.in my opinion it was certainly unethical, if not illegal. The customer service (or complete lack thereof) is set up to run you in circles and get no resolution, just frustrate you and get you to give up.
