Kitchen CanDo
Deceptive

Construction & Repair

I don't get suckered into infomercials often, and every time I have I've ended up regretting it. This time is no different. I saw the infomercial for the Kitchen CanDo on MSNBC and decided to give it a try—it included a multi-function bottle/jar opener, which also worked as a can opener. Dishwasher safe, easy to use, etc. It also came with a free peeler. I'm living in a new apartment and figured I could use such an appliance around the place. The commercial said it was $19.95 $8.95 for P&H. Therefore, I was expecting my total to be around $29.

I went onto the website and ordered one. They offered to let me buy a second set for an additional $8.95, and I hit "no thanks". They offered a few other gadgets and I declined those as well. They offered "expedited" (2-3 weeks) shipping for an additional $5.95 and I declined that as well. The next thing I know, I'm looking at a page that says "thank you for your order—you will receive it in the next 6-8 weeks."

I was never asked for a final "submit" and they never verified my total price before processing the order. After thanking me for my order, they gave me my total—they charged me $16.95 for shipping and handling—for a $20 item! I immediately tried to call customer service and was told that they are only open during business hours Monday through Friday. Funny that they're running their infomercials telling you to "call now" when they're allegedly not open.

In short, I paid nearly double what they had quoted me on shipping, and they expect me to wait two months to receive the product. They are frauds—you can buy just as good a product at one of the kitchen appliance stores in your local mall, I have no doubt.
