We traveled all the way to Bali, Indonesia, to meet with what we were lead to believe was a British-educated engineer and owner of a prefab building company whom we had sent plans to for a cost quotation. Geoffrey had convinced us to travel to Bali to meet with him at his factory. What we discovered after meeting with Geoffrey Leonard of Tropical Pavilion was that he was a total liar and fake.
I had my architect with me who asked Geoffrey some basic questions about building, methodology, etc. Geoffrey's answers lead us to believe that he was not being 100% straight with us. He stuttered allot and got quite nervous in our meeting. He also could not provide references for us to check out.
We left the meeting feeling like we were duped. We had two weeks in Bali and spent the time looking into other companies. We discovered via this process that Geoffrey was in fact a total fake and liar - not even an engineer! The more we probed into his company and past, the more we found out.
We called him to make another appointment to meet with him to confront him with what we found out.in this meeting he got irate and threw us out of his office, threatening to have us killed! We went to the police who did nothing.
We met with a French company who had sued Geoffrey for copywrite and who told us more information and also gave us the names and info. For others who had problems with Geoffrey.
We met with a man who had worked with Geoffrey and told us that he was very unstable, that he was into drugs, and was basically a dishonest businessman.
Then we learned of a woman named Leslie on Kauai whom Geoffrey had ripped off, not returning her deposit and not finishing her house he had started.
We then phoned a man who used to work with Geoffrey who said that he was a low-class, degenerate alcoholic and heavy drug user. (We had our local driver ask one of Geoffrey's staff about some of these allegations, and his office worker happily confirmed our worst nightmare, all true)!
So we had a wasted trip that cost us about $3500.00 and all for nothing. He ripped us off and misrepresented himself and his company. Never, ever use his company!
