1st Rate 2nd Hand Thrift Store
This thrift store sells junk, then refuses refunds!

Construction & Repair

I purchased a used computer desk from this store. Before purchase I examined the desk as best I could in the dark, hot back room where it was stored. I paid the $24 asking price and rolled it out the door. Just like some comic bit on a bad TV show, as soon as I got the desk out the door, the keyboard drawer collapsed into the desk. The screws were missing and I found that the particle board in the back of the drawer was previously destroyed.

I took the desk back into the store and the sales lady that rang me up showed the appropriate amount of concern ("Awww... That's too bad). She even chastised a worker saying "You guys are supposed to inspect these things as they come in!" Yet the saleslady refused to refund the amount she had just swiped onto my card just moments before. This is bad business. Not everyone can afford to buy new, so thrift stores are a viable option.

But the '1st Rate 2nd Hand Thrift Store' is not a viable option, for they sell dumpster reject garbage. I left the trash desk at their store. (The sales lady was nice enough to write on the receipt that the desk was returned because it was broken before it was purchased.)

I tried to call my bank to see if they could perform a chargeback but since the store used my card as a debt card, the regular protections from unscrupulous merchants you receive when you charge a purchase don't apply in this case. Ha, ha, ha '1st Rate 2nd Hand Thrift Store, ' you hooked me on this one! But hopefully by filing this report, you will be able to hook less unwitting customers. I know I'll never go back there.
