Refused any assistance to me re: their defective merchandise which was only 2 weeks old

I recently purchased a whirleygig from songbirdgarden.com. When it arrived it appeared to be in good working order. After I installed it in on a post, it worked for 2 weeks then the cheap metal snapped in pieces. I wasn't too upset that the device failed but really got hot when the company failed to assist in any way with repair or replacement of the device which I had only purchased just 2 weeks prior for nearly $60. When I called to report it to songbirdgarden.com I was simply told:

"Sorry to hear about your disappointment in the Dancing Hula Girls Whirligig. This has been a very popular item and we rarely receive any customer complaints. We guarantee this product only when we are notified immediately (within two days of receipt) about any damage in shipping or defects. You received this item over two weeks ago (6/27/08). Unfortunately, too much time has transpired for us to be able to file a claim with the manufacturer."

I was told this "company line" 2 times by 2 different people but its like they didn't want to listen to me. The item didn't break till this past weekend (12 July) so I had nothing to report when it first arrived. Now I have a $60 piece of junk metal thats 2 weeks old and a company that won't stand behind what they sell. I will never buy from this company or recommend them to anyone.
