The old carpet cleaning scam is back in action again in Southern California. The latest phone number they are using is 562-394-0361. They use a prerecorded message trying to get you to use their carpet cleaning service. Press "1" and if you say anything but what they want to hear, they are rude or hang up. If you call the phone number back, you get a fake "out of service" message now instead of a busy signal. They are getting smarter about that. Any business that calls cell phones and "do not call" registered phones (FCC violations at $11,000 per violation), is rude, hangs up on you, uses a boiler room and auto dialers, and hides their real identity can not be an ethical business, is probably shady and even dangerous. If you get one of these phone calls and you have caller ID, file an FCC complaint. Do not have any contact with these people. If you get threatened by them, call the police.
