Tony Raspovolo Very bad experience

Quality of work very variable and reliability of Tony Raspovola very poor. He took over a year to complete the work, clearly fitting it in around his other jobs and availability of cash. He failed to complete all the work for which he had quoted. Although we had agreed a payment schedule and price, he continually sought to vary both for no apparent reason except to get cash. He was asked to concrete a specific area and it took three times of asking to get him to concrete anything like the originally specified area. He repaired some steps but failed to remember to replace the handrail while he was doing it, then did a very poor attempt to correct his error, with the guard rail attached to siding at one end and the other end resting on the concrete! His plastering work was awful. He failed to notice that there was an old tank under the sidewalk, and concreted over it (and we subsequently had to have it removed and his concrete work redone). We did not know either, and Tony admitted he should have noticed when he quoted. He failed to get appropriate permits for the work he did. When we initially found out about this, Tony said it was normal practice not to get permits or have inspections, but when we checked we were told this was not the case. Subsequently we kept getting calls from somebody claiming to be from Weehawken Town Hall saying the work had been inspected and the permits were in order, although nobody at Town Hall knew about the calls. We even found out he was due to pay a penalty.
