I have purchased these Bright Effects (manufactured by TEC) fluorescent replacement bulbs from Lowe's now a couple of times (between Jan. 2007 and Feb. 2008) and will never buy them again. The bulbs tend to last anywhere from 1 week to 8 months, but never longer. The packaging claims the bulbs will last up to 7 years. My guess is they would last 7 years if you kept them in storage for 6 years and 8 months, then installed them for service over the following 4 months. That would make 7 years. Do not buy these bulbs from Lowe's or anywhere you see them as they are simply not worth the money because any savings on energy costs will be consumed several-fold by the extra cost of the bulbs.
