We purchased a Suncoast Furniture patio set about 4 years ago. The set is used 4 months out of a year. We store this set indoors in the cold months. The handle snapped off the umbrella while we were opening it.

Suncoast claims the parts are made in China (of course) and Suncoast does not stock replacement parts. We were also told this is an accessory to our set and therefore Suncoast claims no liability for that piece. It does have the Suncoast name on it.

However, as the manufacturer of fine quality aluminum furniture (their words) Suncoast offered to send us a replacement frame for the umbrella (this does not include the fabric) for a cost of $161.00 plus freight. They are doing this as a favor, we are told, as their policy is they do not sell directly to the consumer. We are merely looking for a $5 or $10 part we will install ourselves. The rest of the umbrella is fine.

The company, which I think is run by one person Schana Salzman, or atleast she thinks she's the owner, is extremely difficult to deal with. She is snotty and condescending. We spoke with her on several occasions for about 2 months. After 2 months Schana had the nerve to tell us this part is available at Lowe's or Home Depot. If that was true why not tell us before all the aggravation? We did not find it at either place by the way. I think she was merely rubbing salt in a wound. We think Suncoast is an extremely difficult company to deal with and would never purchase from them again!
