Unlawful cancellation policy, dishonest projection of delivery times, Unreponsive customer Service ripoff

I made an on-line purchase for a table from "Furniture on the Web" approx. A month ago (approx. Price: $550.00). They indicated (both on their site as well as to me on the phone) that it would ship within 3 to 5 business days and I should receive the merchandise in approx. 2 weeks.

Two weeks later, I contacted the company and was notified that the item was not even shipped from warehouse to their facilities! Upset, I attempted to cancel my order. They refused, citing an unlawful policy that prohibits cancellations.investigating this company led me to the BBB site which gave this company an unsatisfactory record, as well as to scores of horror stories on-line (goto epinions).

Incidents encompassed Furniture on the Web's consistent misrepresentation regarding delivery times, repeated refusal by their customer service to accept cancellations of orders (for non-custom items, prior to shipment), flagrant misrepresentation, through photos and descriptions, of product quality (i. E product was plastic instead of wood, child's bed fell apart after 4 months), shipments of damaged and broken items for which the consumer was forced to absorb the inflated shipping fees to return it et al.

Once again, I demanded they cancel my order and they refused. They shipped the item yesterday against my express instructions, and indicated that if I refuse to accept, I will have to pay for shipping and a 30% restocking fee.in response, I was forced to deactivate my credit card and had my bank issue me a new card. This company is as shady as they come and it has a strong presence on the internet (they are affiliates of Amazon, MSN, Dealtime et al, routinely coming up in their search results).

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH FURNITURE ON THE WEB. Their mission is to get your money, period.
