House Of Forgings
Poor quality Did nothing to fix Ripoff

Construction & Repair

I am building a house and requested the builder to use House of Forgings instead of their regular supplier. I worked directly with the builder's vendor and asked him to order balusters and shoes through this company because they looked to fit in with my Tuscan decor. When the balusters and shoes came in, I was told the shoe was too big and was off center and had huge gaps. I called the company and told them the balusters were not 9/16ths like they claimed but rather 1/2 inch. This explained why the 9/16ths shoe was too big. They told me to epoxy it which according to the trim carpenters wouldn't work because there isn't enough metal on the shoe to attach well enough. HOuse of Forgings admitted having some balusters coming in the wrong size but denied there was a problem with mine even though I measured them. They were 1/2 inch and in some places less! They said since I didn't pay for them, there was nothing they could do even though I was the one who contacted them about starting their line with the trim supply company. House of Forgings sold balusters under the premise they were 9/16ths and they were 1/2 inch. They would do nothing to compensate me. We are stuck with an uneven look and will have to hire someone after we move in to fix it, if it is possible. I called the trim supply company and they too had talked to House of Forgings and told me the same thing. He said they get them from China and there is no quality control If we can't fix this we may have to tear out the stair parts and start over with another product. House of Forgins doesn't seem to be bothered selling products with this kind of deception. I've usually had good luck with Internet sales but in this case, I would stay away from this company. If things go well, you are fine. If not, they will not stand behind their products.
