Adair Homes
Incorporated ripoff homebuilders, bad customer service, poor lending practices

Construction & Repair

We recently had a home built by adair homes inc. Let me say please please think twice before going with adair. Be sure to do your research. Cheaper isn't always better! They have complaints that have been filed against them with the better business bureau. Check them out. They have been sued in oregon for building a house that was so full of mold it gave the homeowners permanent physical and psychological problems.

Adair is a home builder that offers 'lower prices' because the new homeowner has a list of items they can do themselves to save on the price of the house. Those items were to be things like calling to get the power turned on, calling to get the water connected, calling to confirm that licenses were received things like that. Somehow during all of this their policy expanded to include safety of their crew, cleanliness, poor craftmanship and weather.

Adair homes has an answer for everything that goes wrong, they will tell you "It's the Owners responsibility to take care of that." We paid Adair over $190,000.00 and we still have more than 3 truck loads of insulation, drywall, trim pieces, carpet and padding, nails, screws, pop cans (from their workers), lunch bags (from their workers) and scrap wood to haul off our property.

We complained to the construction department that there were problems with the builders tracking things into the house and throwing their personal garbage in the yard and they told us " You signed the contract, it's your responsibility to keep the job site clean." What about the urine in the toilet the day we moved in? Is it my job to flush the toilet after the construction crews leave?

So, we took days off from work to supervise THEIR workers and were told by the construction crews, " We aren't allowed to take directions from the homeowners, we can only do what Adair says to do according to our paperwork." What? Needless to say, we have lived in our new home for one month now and we have seams in the carpet that are separating, lumps under our vinyl that will eventually poke through and a crawl space full of water.

Who do we call? We called the construction department of Adair and were told that " A final inspection was done on your home, it passed, the problems now are something you need to deal with." So, as homeowners if you build a house with Adair, don't expect to be able to have any say in what goes on or what they do during the construction of your home. They are very quick to lay blame and very fast to bypass complaints.

Seek professional advice before working with them. We now have many many dollars that we are going to have to spend on legal council because we wanted to save some money on our future investment.
