Blue Haven Pools
Irresponsible and uncaring

I agree with the other complaints about Blue Haven Pools, because my experience was not any better. It took them 5 months before I could swim in it for the first time, and that was in a pool severely stained all over, from the moment it was first filled.

I began having problems with the company almost immediately. The pressure test for the plumbing blew a joint over night and dug out a hole in the dirt below the skimmer. They didn't backfill the hole, they just filled it up with gunite. I got a salt deck, and the contractor forgot to put in the two umbrella holes I asked for, so they had to go back and install them after the concrete was already poured, and they completely forgot to put in the diving rock I asked for.instead of fixing it, Blue Haven just credited me the cost.

The big problems came when they filled the pool. I got quartz plaster, and they said it needed to be acid etched for 4 or 5 days before we could use it. They filled the pool and put the acid in, and the water almost immediately turned a dark brown color, like a swamp. I told them about it, but they just blew it off, saying "call us when the plaster is the color you want" I couldn't even see the first step, let alone the bottom of the pool.

By the time they got around to fixing the water, it had stained the entire pool with rust colored stains. About a month later after many visits to the office and phone calls, the plaster company came out, and said the pool had been neglected - how could it be neglected when it was only a couple months old?

They finally drained and acid washed the pool, but as soon as the water was put back in it started staining again. I removed the stains myself with several hundred dollars of chemicals, and have since gone to a local pool builder who has told me what to do to avoid the staining and discoloration.

It will still need acid washing again this fall (the second for a pool a year old...?)

The only bright spot has been Ken, the guy to come out and set up the pool and do the initial maintenance. He got me new filters free because of the staining, and provided a lot of help getting the chlorine generator and ultra violet filter to work right.
