2000 GMC Sierra Fuel Pump Issue

I was experiencing issues with fuel gauge not operating properly. Would bounce back and forth all the time, took to repair shop and was told problem was with fuel pump. Had fuel pump replaced and it works fine now. Why is there no recall on this issue? GMC knows that they used faulty fuel pumps for certain years... Loyal customers are paying out of pocket for this, please fix the issue.
