Construction & Repair

Hired Mr. Handyman to do some minor repairs and complete a punch list left for an earlier remodel. They were quick to come but didn't provide any kind of estimate even though we provided a comprehensive list of things we wanted done. As my son lives out of town and is getting ready to put the house on the market he didn't have time to look around for competing estimates (I'll never make that mistake again). The whole job to a full week, which seemed like a lot of time to replace a few electric face plates, install a new fan, hang 4 closet doors, replace a small amount of trim and paint a stairwell. The total job cost over $5000.00 in labor. For this size job the customer should always be provided an estimate. Additionally the paint job on the stairwell was sub par, given the $98/hr labor rate. The work, especially painting was "handyman" quality and far from what I would consider professional given the labor rate. This service might be fine for small simple jobs but is not suited for any significant undertakings. The cost is far too high for the service provided!!! Will not consider using this service ever again. Learn from my mistakes and get at least 3 estimates.
