Blake Trisler Beware of Uninsured Moving Company - Damages Your Property and has no insurance to repair it

SHORT DESCRIPTION: I hired Mythic Movers to move my office. They totally destroyed a desk in the move and badly damaged my clothes dryer. I asked them for the name of their insurance carrier and was told they were uninsured. They said they would arrange for someone to repair the dryer, but just procrastinated. They are nice guys but hire them at your own risk. If something goes wrong, they have no insurance to repair your furniture if they break something.

LONG DESCRIPTION: I was referred to Mythic Movers by U-Haul. They offer a service where you rent a truck from them and they provide you with professional help to both load and unload your truck. I selected Mythic Movers because they were reasonably priced and were well reviewed.

They were supposed to call me within 24 hours and did not, but they did contact me well before and communicated well. They were late, however, to arrive at my location.

The business turned out to be two young men who claimed to have been in the business for seven years. They were personable and helpful but didn't seem very experienced.

I had a large load, because I was moving a business. The job filled up an entire truck. It took me ten hours to fill and empty the truck. They initially used a two man crew and then expanded to three men. It should be noted that, for my second truck load, several days later, I again rented the largest U-Haul truck, but this time the crew did it in just six hours, not ten. It is important to note since, while their hourly rate is low, they didn't work very fast.

None of these are my complaint. They were helpful and loaded/unloaded a lot of things from my studio. Upon arrival, I noticed that the left side of my desk had completely broken off. It was a moderately priced desk from an office supply store. Blake's response was that "this happens." The screws get stripped out sometimes.

I inspected the desk and discovered that the holes were not stripped, they were ripped right out of the side of the desk. The wood was badly damaged and it wouldn't be possible to re-assemble it. As I was inspecting it with Blake the remainder of the desk fell apart. Blake offered to try to "screw" it back together. I asked him who his insurance carrier was and he told me that HE WAS NOT INSURED.

He continued to unload my goods. He submitted the final bill to me which came out to $525. It was not an inexpensive move. After he left I discovered that he broke the knob and shaft off the temperature control of my dryer. He also broke the ring on the timer. I called him and told me to order a knob online and he would pay for it. I tried to explain to him that it was more than the knob, but he kept on saying "get a knob." In that the shaft had broken off, the entire control piece required replacement.

He told me that he would send his handyman out to look at it. That never happened. He told me I needed to send him pictures first. I sent him pictures and he promised to send him out then. He never did. He refused to hire an appliance repair person to fix it properly.

Beware, they are a group of young guys working on the fly. If you have no problems, they are fine. If something goes wrong, they have no insurance and are not going to take care of you.
