Confusing Application Software design

The user interface for Microsoft Office Word is confusing and while it may initially appear to provide a "What you see is what you get" perspective, adjustments to such basic elements as margins and borders become impossible to achieve, especially given obscure and non-responsive help files.
The old Word Perfect program ran circles around Microsoft's software but then the makers of Word Perfect were flattened by the steam roller that is Microsft.
