Laptop problem - toshiba satellite C645

My Toshiba satellite C645, purchased recently with a warranty plan, has the following problem: the area where you rest your right hand while typing, the flat surface in front of hte keyboard, is so warm, in normal use, that it is difficult to type without discomfort.
This could be because some part of hte cooling system is broken, or because of poor design on the part of the manufacturer.- I suspect the latter.
