Quality Cuisine - A Michigan Catering Company Failure

We hired Quality Cuisine to cater my brother's wedding reception at a private hall in mid May of this year. When my dad arrived at the hall he called me and asked if we were supposed to set up the tables because there was nothing set up at the hall. I told my dad that "Ron" should be downstairs in the kitchen preparing and his staff should have been there setting up. He indicated that no one was in the kitchen and there was no staff there either. When I tried to call both numbers that "Ron" had provided me with, one number went to voice mail and the other was answered by a female who I had never spoken with before. She asked who I was and I told her we had hired "Ron" to do the catering job for us (now only 1 hour before the guests were to arrive) she started apologizing and saying that "there has been an unfortunate event" and that they would not be able to provide food or service for our event. My voice was cut to about nothing at that point as I did not know what to say. I was asking her what I am supposed to do to feed 130 people and she just kept saying that she was sorry. She also gave me another number to call her after the event so she could speak to me about "compensating" us for our loss of service. My dad nearly had a stroke that evening. His friends had to have him sit down at the hall and bring him cold water to drink and to put around his neck because he went so pale at the news. My mom was ready to have a nervous break down and my brother was at a loss for words. After I tried with tears in my eyes and a crackling voice to explain to our guests what had happened, we ended up going to a local restaurant who was able to cook a few pans of food for us thank God, but we ended up paying restaurant cost, not caterer cost. It ended up being a lot more and we had to have everyone get up and get their own food since we did not have the ability to do family style at the tables the way we had planned.

If they at least would have called, even in the morning or the evening before, we could have found a hall that would have been able to cater for us and do the job the way we had planned. No one had the respect or the dignity to do that. They indicated they stuck a note on the door that said to call their number, which we did not see until we were told a note was put on the door of the hall. I had provided "Ron" with a few phone numbers to reach me and I did not get one phone call from him, his family or staff.

That night was disastrous, but because of the wonderful and understanding friends we have, we tried and are still trying to get over this really bad and insulting way of running a business. That caterer does not deserve to have a catering licence. What they did was not proper.

It was a wedding reception. You do not go getting married a few times a year to make up for that. I did not even get a call back from the lady, "Ron" or anyone else to provide an explanation or a desire to compensate us for our loss, wholly or partially.

Shame on you.
