I am begging that someone can get in touch with the Cracker Barrel in Chattanooga/Hamilton place, Tennessee, and please, please tell them how to make mashed potatoes.
They are so hard that my fork can stand up in them without falling over. See picture. Also they are usually grey which means they are being cooked and mashed with all the dark spots that are on the potatoes. I’ve been preparing mashed potatoes for a really long time (I’m 69) and I’m pretty sure they’re making the mashed potatoes with water, no butter and no milk. Just terrible and shameful.
