I was asked to give my credit card or checking account number to pay shipping and handling for some prizes I won with a company called Consumer Beneficial Club. I searched for them up on the internet while I was speaking with them on the phone and I found no reference to them. The people I was speaking with had Indian accents and the connection was not very good.
I decided not to pay the $299.99 for the prizes I won which included a Gateway computer, a vacation, and some store and gas coupons as I was skeptical when I could not find the company on the internet. Has anyone else been contacted by these people and is this is a valid company?
I don't know that this is a scam, but I could not help but be suspicious. I found no reports against them, and I was not scammed by them since I did not give them my information. He said they would not put the charge on the card immediately, so I could think about it for 7 or 8 days, but I still did not proceed as I was not convinced. I am only putting this as a potential warning and to see if anyone else had experience with them.
