Sallie Mae "loses" my payments after they already remove the money from my bank! - Student Loan

Something fishy is going on with Sallie Mae and their student loans. At least once a year they "loose" a payment and then call me saying I am delinquent. The money has been removed from my bank account and applied to Sallie Mae but the SM reps say it was "reversed" and no one can track where it went. I have to speak to at least 3 people each time this happens and I hear different things from each person every time I speak to someone. Each call is at least an hour and recently it has been ending the same way; I mention a lawyer and after all that time on the phone they suddenly "find" my money, apply it, and rush me off the phone telling me there is no need to involve lawyers or anyone else in this process. This is only a recent development though because I have been keeping copies of my bank statements and proving them wrong. For the first few years it was only resolved after I paid them, meaning they have "lost" hundreds of dollars that was taken from me and things only started getting better the very first time I mentioned a lawyer. They become overtly concerned and adamant that no one else needs to become involved, especially a lawyer. This seems very bizarre and I am questioning the legitimacy of their business practices as well as wondering where all this "lost" money is actually ending up? Do not go through sallie mae!!
