First Convenience Bank
Difficult to get accurate statements, balances, or information on my account ripoff it seems they have us over a barrell!

Business & Finance

Okay, we have poor credit, such was the reason we signed up with this bank. My husband unexpectedly lost his job and we ruined our history with our previous bank (one I valued very much).

His new job requires that he MUST have a direct deposit to be paid. We signed up with FCB because of their "no approval" accounts, but I have regretted ever since.

Deposits never seem to be consistent in when they are available. Sometimes they go in right away, same day, sometimes they dont (same timing for deposits, Im not talking end of business day).

Sometimes a hold is issued for a deposit, sometimes its not (cash or checks). FREQUENTLY the teller does not know either. They have given us false information, telling us once, that the out of state $400 check I deposited, would be availble for funds immediately. It was not, and a $29 fee times 3 was incurred.

This was also true of our debit/credit cards. Some times the credit charge floated a day or two, sometimes it deducted right away. (this is not a debit/credit use issue, it changed for both)
It usually depended if I was short on funds already or not. If I was. It hit immediately, if not, it would float awhile. We stopped trying to float credits after discovering this the first time.

The bank statements are EXTREMELY difficult to read. There is no running total, and fees are lumped together so you cant tell what and where each one was charged for. The phone teller is not always accurate either.

Once, my husband planned to pay a bill that I had also planned to pay. He got to the bank before I did, and withdrew all of the funds. Unaware, I went to withdraw the money, the teller gave it to me happily, overdrawing my account and charged me a fee without letting me know. To me, it seems they should at least mention that the action will overdraw my account.

We have complained before, and staff always refunds us the fees, but that in itself seems to me a reason to beleive they know they are wrong. I think they rely on the fact that the consumer is not able to catch all the fees. But they will refund as needed.

As a previous teller, I also know that we were required to clear deposits before debits. Yet at FCB debits have hit before electronic deposits in the same day.

Overall, Im very DISsatisfied with this bank, but with our credit, it seems they have us over a barrell!
