Collecting debt on something I never had nor applied for and what appears to be identity theft

CAMCO sent me a letter claiming I owed them from a Citibank Visa card I supposedly had ten years ago. I never even applied for a card like this let alone acquired one. I think Citibank may be involved to some degree with these people, when I spoke to them they stated they had sold the debt but would not even confirm it was mine. They just had an account number. When confronting CAMCO they would hang up on me when I asked for names and documentation.
