Ripoff

This is another complaint regarding WFHM.

My husband and I were both laid off from our jobs in March and May, respectively. We purchased our home through the Veteran's Administration and WFHM.

We had been in contact with WF in order to work out half-payments or whatever we could do regarding getting our mortgage paid while laid off. They have refused to cooperate with any payment plan at all and insist on the total payment each and every time we call.

However, as if this doesn't make things bad enough, the Customer Service Reps and Supervisors are ignorant and not very knowledgeable regarding an account when you call. Whenever you ask to work out a payment plan for a monthly payment, they flat out say, "We can't do that", and "We have no other choice but to foreclose."

The BIGGEST rip-off comes when we found out this past week that they charge a "drive-by" fee of $15.00-$30.00, for having some person drive by the house just to make sure you're still living in it!

I would figure if a customer is talking to them by phone and sending correspondence back and forth, they would get the idea that we're STILL in the house.

They seem to "authorize" these "drive-bys" as often as everyday, every other day, several times a month. Needless to say, our contract does not specify this practice, nor does it state anywhere that they will do this on a whim. It has added up to a substantial amount of several hundred dollars between last year and this year.

I would tell anyone who is thinking about a mortgage with WF to RUN to another bank or reputable finance company and stay away from them.

If anyone knows about the class action lawsuit pending, please let me know.

I have written a letter to WFHM, the VA, and am about to send letters to the Attny General and BBB.

As a result of this, we are selling our home of five years because we don't want to do business with this company anymore.

I believe this practice, as well as all of their other dishonest ones, is predatory lending.
