North America Sweepstakes Sponsorship Sweepstakes Prize, Florida, Canada, Check to cover legal costs

Received a check in the amount of $7,080 with a letter. Return address is: 1091 Main Street; Avon Park, Florida, 33826. The heading of the letter says "The North America Sweepstakes Sponsorship and Tropical Financial Group."

The letter stated that an award in the amount of $493,000 US had my name on it. The International Sweepstakes Surplus Commission has assigned Mr. Walker Mondo to handle all my legal paperwork. The check was to cover all my legal costs and any other incidental expenses until the balance is given to me.

The phone numbers at the top of the letter are: 888-292-2031 and 778-708-1535. Both numbers are real as proven when I called the toll-free number, got to voice mail and hung up, and then received a call from the second number from Mr. Walker Mondo.

Although I found nothing at the state attorney generals' websites (both CA and FL), I called the Credit Union the check was drawn from and discovered they were taking information from many people who had received such checks. It was indeed a fraud, and the FBI has been involved.

Mr. Mondo didn't have much to say when I told him what I'd discovered. Apparently he'll be packing up very soon and finding another rock to hide under. What a slime ball!
