Rip-off! Unauthorized debit

The company obtained my credit card no. And SSN to do a credit check. When I recieved my credit card statement I realised they had removed $550 from my card. This was an unauthorised debit. I foolishly gave them my card no. For this 'credit check' and authorised them to deduct a processing fee of $2.50.

When I contact them to resolve the issue they keep passing me on to different extension, eventually telling me someone will call me back. I feel completely ripped off and hope that by reading this other 'innocent' people will avoid the same situation. Be careful of this company.
