Ripoff No Customer Service, Outrageous Interest Rates, Extravagent Fees

Emerge purchased revolving credit accounts from Providian. Providian offered great customer service (via web site or phone) and fair interest rates (average for credit cards).

One day I get a phone call from Emerge telling me they held my account now. They had no toll-free number or Web Site, knew very little about my account period. So I refused to pay them.

Fees and interest (now 29.99%, illegal in California where I live) accrued until the Providian Web Site was updated showing they had purchased my account. Then they were only open 8A-4P Eastern Time so I had a hard time reaching them. Things went on like this for awhile.

Fast forward to today, they call 2-3 times a week asking for another payment (their minimum payment barely covers the interest accrued). They have finally gotten a toll free number and are open until 7PM Eastern Time now. But they are still a con, and if anyone can find any reason to sue - PLEASE let me know.
