$36 Fee Charged for Overdrawing by Just 18 Cents

I am a second-year undergraduate and I live almost 1029 miles away from home. The only way I receive money from my family is through my SunTrust account, but recently they have been hitting me with all these $36.00 fees for going over my account by just a couple of cents, and I do mean cents. Last Friday I went over by 18 cents, and my account was hit with a $36.00 fee. How am I going to pay this with no source of income? Customer service is just not concerned enough for me. There should be something we can do about all these unnecessary fees.
