Well - I thought I was getting a good deal but it turned out to be a scam. A craigslist ad for gift cards (Walmart, best Buy, Visa, Amex, Greendot, Home Depot, Lowes, etc) intrigued me. I responded and got a response within a day. The person said they had $1,000s in gift cards and wanted to meet me in NYC.
Fortunately I live in the city so I met him. He offered to verify the value of the cars by calling the number on the back. He called out the number as he dialed. He then quickly dialed "0" several times to get an operator. He allowed me to listen in on the call as he verified the card numbers. What he had done was call his girlfriend but because he pressed "0" so many times, I could no longer see the number he had dialed on his screen - instead I only saw zero's. Of course the woman, his girlfriend, verified every card he asked.
