In we refinanced our mortgage, since I was planning to stay home with our 2 young children. It flipped around and got sold and resold, until it landed with the gangsters known as option one mortgage.in Sept we went on vacation, making our mortgage payment for September on Aug 22.
When we returned home on September 30, there was a message on our phone "reminding" us to pay them their payment due on Oct 1. While we were in Canada, we mailed our October payment to the previous company. We were saying "Who wants our mortgage payment?" This was the 4th change in 6 months.By law, there needs to be a letter when a note changes hands. We had no official letter from Option One, and when they called, I truly thought it was a scam, or someone was trying to steal our identities.
Then we got a letter in october that our mortgage was 2 months past due, and they were going to begin foreclosure. The other mortgage companies had our money, and had not forwarded it to Option One.
Apparently, Option One took over in September, not October. On October 28 we received a letter stating our mortgage was now in the hands of Option One, as of September 1. Well, DUH thanks for telling us only 58 days later.
Thus began a giant nightmare-frenzied phone calles from Erica Reedy, screaming at our babysitter, leaving rude messages, etc.
We could not get the intermediate company to forward everything, so we wired the total amount to them, as requested by Reedy. Whatta bonehead she was! We no sooner wired them the amount THEY requested, then they sent it back, saying we owed more fees now. The time between the call where the amount due was given, and the said amount was wired was 6 hours. Suddenly, we owed 800 in "fees" and they were sending the amount back to us. (After paying 48 dollars at Western Union sending this)
There was another idiot in collections, Larry something, who kept calling us after 9 pm - (a violation)
They called every day for weeks. We got a lawyer, and now Option One feels the pain, and life is good.
