RJM Acquisitions and Fingerhut Ripoff! Fraud! Attempted to ruin credit

Recently received a letter in the mail (at my mother's address, which has not been an address I have used in at least 10 years). It was addressed to my maiden name - also hasn't been used, in several years... indicating an attempt to collect $260.00 for an account opened in 1999.

I called the 1-800 # to dispute the debt-on first attempt-was put on hold for 40 minutes, before having to hang up. On second attempt, reached an employee who informed me of what I had supposedly purchased thru Fingerhut (an air gun)-don't even know what you use that for. She did have my social security # correct-asked me if I had lived on a particular street in the past, which I had not..

When I told her I would like to dispute the account, she QUICKLY said that she would wipe it out (almost too quickly). She said it was on my credit report and would take b/w 30-45 days to clear up. When I told her I was concerned (about them having some accurate and a whole lot of inaccurate information) she replied with "if I said I would take care of it; I will." Why don't I feel better?
