Ripoff! They sold my account and raised interest rate to 29%!

I first got an Aria Visa from Providian in 11-99,
My husband had just died and I am a disabled widow. I always made sure payments were on time even if I had to send them western Union. Everything was going fine until 8, when they sold off my acct. And raised my interest rate to 29%.

I was totally distressed about the situation because they did this to me, I just quit paying them all together at that point, I was wrong to do that. Now I am tring to pay these people off but hardly any of my payments are going to the princple maybe 12 dollars a month. With they are still charging over the limit charges on a closed account.
I would appreciate any help that I could get.
