Greenpoint Credit
Ripoff, by adding late fees to payments sent on time and refuses to acknowledge actual payment made

For the last year I have experienced nightmares in regard to my mortgage payments at Greenpoint credit. I would send the monthly payments on time, and in plenty of time for the post office to get them there. Only to be telephoned by a computer, on a weekend, telling me to call the office asap.

When I call they tell me they haven't received my payment and that late charges will be added for each day they do not receive the payment.insisting I should do a telephone transaction. I refuse. So I stop payment on the check and reissue another.

Surprisingly enough, this one arrives on time.

They argue with me that I didn't send the payment and so late fees must be added, if it isn't they will call the loan, turn it over for collection, which of course will ruin our credit.

So I sat down with my bank and we decided I should send all my payments to them Certified mail, and not in the envelope they send. Miraculously, they have for the last 8 months arrived at Greenpoint credit ontime, of course this costs 5 bucks more to do, but it is worth the money.
I posed the question to them about what is happening to my payments. I ask if someone in the mailroom is pulling out 2 dozen each day and throwing them away, because they never showup.

I am sure I am not the only person having dealings with Greenpoint that may have had this happen to. Just surprised no one else has complained about their attempts at screwing the public.
