I contacted this company in August to help resolve a wage garnishment at my wife's work. We were promised that if we wired them $1,000.00 and scheduled monthly payments, they would get the garnishment stopped immediately. Two weeks went by and nothing. We called the IRS directly and they told us the only thing that TaxMasters did was to file the Power of Attorney forms. I spoke with Rasheed El-Amin, our contact person, and he told me that TaxMasters was not going to do anything until the full amount of the contract was paid. We sent them a cancellation letter and then they took the monthly payments out of our bank account for two more months. We had to cancel our bank account to stop them from taking any more money. We asked the bank to stop payment on the funds, which they did, but then reversed after they looked at the contact from TaxMasters. So far we are out $2,260.00 and we keep getting threatening letters from their in-house attorney, Jeffrey Steinberg, demanding that we pay an additional $2,090.00.

This company has probably never done any actual work for a client. They make all kinds of promises and have yet to deliver anything!

I have learned that we can sue them in small claims court here in California and they will have to show up to defend the suit. We are going to ask for our money back plus all of the expenses that they have caused us.

I really wish I done a bit of research on them instead of just listening to their TV commercials.

I will update this once the suit is filed.
