Merimac Capital - First American Payment Systems
First american Equipment failed. Terrible customer service. No work around to get money while "blade" wouldn't work

Business & Finance

My "Blade" wouldn't process a batch while I was out of town. I hadn't taken the recharger (with an info sticker) and didn't have access to contact information. E-mailed my salesperson and he didn't respond (I asked for the contact info). When I returned home, I contacted repair services at Merimac. Several reps said they had a solution, but those did not work. I was disconnected 3 times in one afternoon. I spent hours working with them and having to start at the beginning because of the dropped calls. Wasted time.
Then they wanted me to do something over a landline. I don't have one (ancient technology — I'm wireless) so I imposed on a friend to use hers the next night. After a lot of hassle and more wasted phone time, we got it hooked up to the RJ-11 and connected as they instructed. I left it alone for quite a while, but it didn't work. I finally tried to call for help to no avail — 18 minutes of waiting was enough for me. As I tried to find someone else nearby to make another plan to go the their house (it would have been two days later) I realized Merimac had stepped over the line and I could not carry on with them.
The worst was the fact that there was no work around to get the funds owned to me from charges until the Blade was working. They said they could pull the funds out of the accounts, but couldn't give them to me. So they can get the money and keep it until who knows when. I returned everything (in original packaging) to the salesperson.
They say I owe them over $2000 because of the non-cancellable contract. I found out from my bank that you cannot cut of automatic withdrawals. I stopped payment on the exact amount they charged me monthly, which worked, but then they tried to sneak around it and billed two charges for 1/2 the full amount — trying to avoid a problem if I had stopped payment on it. Fortunately, my balance was low so they didn't get it.in order to stop this, I have reported my card lost and opened a new account to which they don't have access.
Now I am being hounded and threatened. I just can't possibly give them a penny more. I tell them to do what they have to do. I will do what I have to do, including discourage others from using their services. Hence this report.
It was a mistake to ever work with them — they are way too expensive, too. Run!
