Providian financial ripoff charged late fees and interest while charge was being disputed, ruined credit rating over $47.18 a battle since june!

Have been fighting with Providian since June. They changed account number while I was in Europe so card was worthless. A hotel that I had cancelled was charged to card September. I disputed charge of $47.18 and paid remainder of bill.

They charged me interest for entire September bill in October. I called and was assured it would be removed and to disregard bill.in November they charged me interest and $35.00 fee for nonpayment. Called and agent advised they would remove.in December they removed nonpayment and interest and charged me $35 nonpayment.

This continued into February when they finally resolved dispute and credited account for $47.18. They still had interest charges on account that they advised I had to pay even though account was under dispute.

They reported my account to credit reporting agencies as being excessively late. They sent me bill for $. 01 and when I wouldn't pay they cancelled my account in September. This all happened while being reassured by agents that they would have supervisor take care of and call me back.

It got to a point that agent would not speak to me and automatically transferred to billing because of non payment.
