Steel Vault Credit Monitoring Service
Claims to be able to monitor credit, but cannot handle a simple cancellation correctly. Fraudulant withdraws from my account!

On December 17 I called into their call center number (888) 887-4287 and spoke to a Patricia. I requested that my account be cancelled and was given what was supposed to be a cancellation number of 123818. On January 13 I had $14.95 deducted from my account. I again called the call center number (888) 887-4287 and again spoke to a Patricia. I explained that my account had been cancelled on 12/17 and that I had been charged. Patricia informed me that she was sorry and that the charges would be reversed. I had then asked what would be done of any overdraft charges that would be incurred due to this mistake by their company and was put on hold for an extensive amount of time. Patricia came back onto the line and informed me that there were no records of me cancelling my account and that I would have to fax my bank statement into the supervisor for review. She also informed me that what I was told was a cancellation number was in fact and order number. I do not understand how I could be given an order number when I clearly selected the option to cancel my account on your automated system. I was asked if I was sure that I wanted to cancel and I instructed Patricia that all I wanted to do at the time was cancel my account! I am rather curious how a company can claim to be able to monitor peoples credit reports, but is unable to handle a simple cancellation call. At this point the charge is still showing on my account and my bank status shows as overdrafted. Fortunatly my bank has let me know that they will go after this company for making a fraudulant withdraw, but I though others might want to be warned. If you handle any business with Patricia, you might want to call back and make sure that he correct procedure had been done, because she clearly is unable to handle her job responsibilities!
