Business & Finance

After years of putting up with Wachovia's outrageous and predatory overdraft fees, costing me thousands of dollars over the years, and the most recent abuse of allowing a previous creditor with a bogus "court order" to raid my account, I requested in-person and online that the account be closed. Wachovia's online response instructed me to call them. I instead went in-person to my local branch and requested the account be closed, where upon the bank representative called (I assume) corporate HQ to ask if the restraint on the account needed to be removed in order to close the account. Corporate, relayed through the local representative, asked if I had resolved the matter with the creditor (a 15 year old disputed debt) to which my response that it was private matter of my own and was irrelevant to my request to close the account. After an extended delay while the local representative was on hold, I decided not to waste any more of my time, gave the bank card to the local representative, repeated my request that the account be closed, and left the bank. I checked the account online this morning and it has not been closed.

I am also interested in joining any class action suit related to this kind of matter or any similar to it, and any class action related to Wachovia's abusive overdraft fee policy and practice.
