Stole my debit card

My debit card was stolen!!! In about 1 1/2 hours the thieves drove from Plano Texas to Lewisville Best Buy and charged over 3,000.00 on card. I went to the ban and reporte this and then called the Best Buy in Lewisville. I was told there was nothing they could do although the thief had just taken place. I was given another number of the " corporate" office. I was again told there was nothing they could do... Do you people ask for ID??? Since the thief had just taken place, why could someone not check to see about the 3,000.00 purchase...???
