Experian
Freecreditreport.com Charged Me Monthly after Trial Period, without Receipts, and updated my info based on my SSN

Business & Finance

I'm an independent contractor, and times have been hard, so I've also been penny pinching. I was down to my last $15 to the best of my knowledge, when I checked my bank account to see what I actually had left. It said, I had a $14.95 pending transaction. I checked to see what that was, and it was ExperianDirect.com.

I don't recall visiting that site. I have been to Experian.com before and signed up for a free credit report. I called the company and told them my situation. The woman on the phone said, "It's a FREE 7 Day Trial. After 7 days we begin to charge your card."

I said, "I have changed bank information since then, and this is a new card and checking account. I did not authorize you to change any information." She said, "We do it by your social security number." I said, "That's messed up. If I don't personally give it to you, you shouldn't take it at your own free will.
