Mortgage Advertisement Contains Crossed-Out License Statement

Wells Fargo has an ad in the paper stating first mortgages originate out of New Hampshire and second mortgages originate out of New Jersey. Notice that this ad says nothing about Wells Fargo not owning the loans and it gives the appearance that Wells Fargo is the direct lender.

The somewhat sad and amusing thing about this ad is that it actually says "licensed by the Department of Corporations under the California Residential Mortgage and Lending Act" but that phrase has a line through it, so if you didn't know any better, it would appear to be a misprint with the ad.

Since state agencies have no enforcement authority to do anything about what Wells Fargo does, I would suggest getting your complaint on record with the AG's office of these two states and encourage them to revoke their mortgage license. If enough people complain - no matter what state you are located in, it could happen like it did in California, and if enough states do this, then maybe the feds will take better notice.
