Unclaimed funds letter demands $1500 to process payment

I received a letter with an Australian Government Dept of Finance & Administration logo stating I had unclaimed funds in the amount of One Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars and that I had to fax an enclosed form to Citi National Trust at 1-866-307-2122. Note: the payment form had to be faxed; if it was mailed, it would not be processed.

The letter states that Citi National Trust has a contract with the Australian Government and they remit funds to you in one lump sum.

I contacted the 1-866 number, and they asked me to fax the form. I faxed the form, and then someone called me and stated that I would have to send them $1500 in order to process this.

I did not send $1500 to them. This is such a scam. Please be aware of these people.

The letter was signed by Oscar Kaufany, General Mgr, Financial Management Group, Dept of Finance & Administration, Australian Government.
