This company buys stale debts (7 years old) on the cheap from the original creditor and calls you up hoping you don't know that it can't legally collect and will send them money.

They first contacted me years ago about a phone bill that wasn't mine, and was assigned to me due to identity theft. I corrected the matter with the creditor years before that and had it removed from my credit report.

They called again and said it would be a lot cheaper just to pay now as opposed to what they would get if they took this to court. I said this debt is more than 7 years old anyway, how could you possibly be trying to collect on that. He said there had been partial payment on it, so that restarted the clock. Who paid it? I didn't. He changed the subject.

The man on the phone was rude, unprofessional, and insulted me personally. I looked up the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act after the call and realized they had violated it 5 ways to Friday. I wrote them a letter telling them all the ways they were breaking the law. I am sure this is standard operating procedure.

I know everyone has to make a living, but I don't know how employees of this company get out of bed in the morning. They must have ulcers the size of grapefruits.
