Exorbitant Charges and Transfers

Let me start by saying that my local RBC Bank has always been fabulously simple and incredibly kind to me. But recently my bank account went in the negative $18.00 and they charged me $260.00 in NSF fees and Overdraft Re-Entry fees. Also, they started transferring money from my little sisters savings account to my account to cover the fees. Since my mother was the overseer on both minor accounts, they APPARENTLY did not think it was necessary to either ask permission to do this, OR to notify us that it was being done. We only saw the transfers when we got online to check the statments. THIS IS UNFAIR.

So not only do I owe the bank $300... I owe my sisters savings account $65.00. Now, I am a college student, and I only have the ability to work weekends-And even some of those get cut out when I have a big test to study for. So I deposit my bi-weekly paychecks, and have been since I was 15 years old. But at the rate I'm going, this wont be paid off until summer.

Oh, but get this-They will close the account after 60 days if the funds are not paid back. AND my financial consultant told me that they would put a hold on my Social Security Number so that I would not be able to open a new account at any bank IN THE CITY. This conversation was over the phone. Then, when I marched into the bank and very politely asked him to give this to me in writing on bank letterhead, with his signature. He told me that was not allowed and proceeded to give me the standard booklet that outlines the fine print of an account. GREAT~I read the booklet and NOWHERE in it does it say they can keep me from opening another account. I take this as an indirect threat to me personally. Little did he know, he was dealing with a law student ;)
