Salary job direct deposited 9,650 into my account and turned out to be fraud trying to get money off it California

I was offered a job at the begging of last month from careerbuilder from a place called mmt group inc i was supposed to process payments for them and bring home commision plus 2300 dollars a month salary i kept in touch through the time and finally the deposited 9,560 dollars into my account via direct deposit i was supposed to take out 700 commison and my first 1000 salary out of it and the bank told me it was fraud should i be liable for this i thought direct deposits were good either way and couldnt be fraud
