Tribute/fbo account closed without cause

I opened this credit card account in 12/07. Every payment was made on time for approx one year.in 12/08, I was very sick. Nothing was paid exactly on time, but everything was paid before the end of December. The last week of Dec I called to make my Dec 08 payment over the phone as I had numerous times before. I spoke with a gentleman who called himself Jimmy and spoke very bad english with a very heavy accent. He told me that I had no payment due until 01/09.

Some days later I received my statement and it showed a $150 charge posted in Dec which put my account over the limit and an $8 credit that I knew nothing about. I called again the first week of Jan 09. Again I was greeted by a gentleman with a very heavy accent and bad english. When I asked about the charges on the statement he said $150 was my participation fee for 2009 and he explained the $8 credit by saying that it had been given to everyone. I told him that the participation fee was a monthly charge and was never to be charged at once and I demanded an explanation of the $8 credit. He got rude & told me that everyone had gotten it and that it didn't matter because the account had been closed because I didn't make my payment on December.

The call center for customer service is located in INDIA. None of the people speak good english and their customer service is horrible. Today, almost 30 days later, I get an alert that they are posting crap on my credit report. I kept calling until I got a supervisor Robert, in America no less, that actually spoke english. He agreed that if Jimmy in India had taken the payment when I called in Dec 08 I never would have gone through any of the hassle or aggravation. He issued a new card and account with a higher limit and said I should have it by 3/15/09. Those of you who are having this company report negatively to the bureaus and have not had an account, please call 866-430-7104 and ask for Robert. He is American, he speaks English and is is wonderful.
