Attempted ripoff

Sorry to those of you that got caught up in this. I too receieved the same "approval."

I have a suggestion for people who, like me have no credit history... Later. I recently moved from Canada and trying to establish credit here has been a son of a moose to get going.

When I saw that this offer did not even say what the card was, no ph number, web address-I tossed it aside. Figured it was a card to buy widgets or something.

What is scary is, tonight, for lack of something better to do-I did a search on Consumer First. Got cardratings (great site) and did a search there for consumer first.

What came up mentioned ComsunerS First (note the S)-most searches do a sound a like/similar words version. I didn't clue in til I thot-why is an outfit that counsels people in debt giving cards?

They chose their name well!

Ok-on to no credit-as bad as poor I think. While I have an excellent credit rating in Canada-it counts for nothing here. Yes I have had offers from those cards where you give them a deposit-it's the principal of the thing.

I have gone into my bank and am doing a series of small loans
(to buy nothing), and will pay them and interest off. Yes I am paying interest for a few months-but nothing like having another company have 300-600 bucks of mine just so I can have the pleasure of their card.

For some of you this may work too. Banks and c. C companies love to get any payment-no matter how small and are usually willing to cooperate.
