Beware of "Grant University"

"Grant University" sells a "free" CD which they say will give you information on government grants. To get it, you must pay $1.98 shipping and handling. That is how they get your credit card number.

Please ask yourself, "When risking under $2 on a purchase, will I typically read the 'fine print' carefully?".

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't. "If I can't get a refund of the $2, so what?", I said to myself.

I did not find out until I had been charged about $70 by them for a service I did not use nor want, and another $30 for another service that I did not use or want, that they had buried, in the fine print, an agreement to let them charge you this much every month until you tell them to stop. They refused to refund the ~$70, even though I had not used their service.

What about the CD? As soon as you pay the $1.98, you can access its contents on the web. It is chock-full of dead links and links to web-sites that do not tell you how to get grants.

Remember, if what I say were false, they could sue me. But it is all true. They rely on the above trickery to get your money.
